A murder investigation is now underway following a fatal West London memorial shooting that claimed the life of a 40-year-old man. The incident occurred during a service in East Acton. Police were called to the scene on Friday evening.

Officers responded at 7:47 PM after reports of multiple shots fired. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service also attended. The victim received treatment at the junction of Braybrook Street and Erconwald Street; however, he was pronounced dead.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that between 40 and 50 people, including children, were present. This large gathering was for a memorial service. The victim’s family has been informed and receives support from specialist officers.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities currently believe the man sustained a gunshot wound. DCI Brian Howie, leading the inquiry, described it as a “senseless act of violence.”

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends,” DCI Howie stated. He added that a time for remembrance tragically left a family devastated. The West London memorial shooting has deeply impacted the community.

Police are urging witnesses to come forward with information. They are particularly interested in anyone who was near Erconwald Street, Braybrook Street, or Wormwood Scrubs playground between 6 PM and 8 PM. Did you see suspicious individuals or vehicles, or anyone carrying weapons?

Detectives also seek any photographs, video, or dashcam footage. Doorbell camera recordings or mobile phone footage are also valuable. Furthermore, anyone who noticed relevant social media posts should contact the police immediately.
