Comedian Russell Howard and his wife, Cerys Morgan, have announced the launch of The Felix Foundation. This new charity will support families experiencing the profound grief of infant loss. The foundation is established in memory of their baby son, Felix, who tragically died shortly after birth.
Howard shared the heartbreaking news in a public statement. He described the period as “the most devastating time of our lives.” The couple expressed deep gratitude for the “extraordinary compassion” shown by hospital staff during their ordeal.
They particularly praised a bereavement midwife named Lauren. Her support was invaluable, especially since she had experienced a similar tragedy. “Her care meant more to us than we can ever put to words,” Howard added.
The hospital provided a cool cot, enabling Russell and Cerys to spend precious hours with Felix. These moments became some of their most cherished memories. Consequently, this personal experience inspired the couple to help others.
The Russell Howard Felix Foundation aims to relieve the needs of parents and close family members. It addresses the impact of miscarriage, premature birth, stillbirth, and neonatal death. Support includes funding for specialist facilities, training, and other crucial assistance.
To officially launch the foundation, Howard will host a special charity gala. This event will take place at The O2 in London on February 8. A star-studded lineup of comedy friends and colleagues is set to perform. Performers include Michael McIntyre, Jimmy Carr, Aisling Bea, Guz Khan, Greg Davies, Mo Gilligan, Michelle Wolf, and John Bishop.
Howard noted that his family “changed forever” after Felix’s passing. He added, however, that they find comfort in Felix’s legacy. His name “will stand for kindness, compassion and laughter.” Moreover, the foundation seeks to guide other families through their darkest moments.
